My Final Post- Touching Obituaries and An Emotional Meeting with Dharmendraji.

March 8, 2016 was the 44th death anniversary of my father. I started this blog to share all that I knew about my father and the world of cinema during his time. I knew that there were some diehard fans of old Hindi films who would enjoy this blog, beyond that I did not give it much thought. This blog’s unexpected success (going by the statistics) has been a pleasant surprise for me. I think any writer of non-fiction would be very happy to see his/her work being used as a reference material. I am no different, I was definitely happy to see writer Jai Arjun Singh include this blog in the recommended reading list in his book The World of Hrishikesh Mukherjee.

When I started on this list, I did not realize that I would be tempted to take it to 3 parts. I just could not help it, the songs those days were so good, the lyrics, composition, the rendition by the singers, everything was perfect. In my final post I have restricted myself to just eleven songs. I have highlighted a few of the lines that have particularly appealed to me in some of these songs.

Bimal Roy - Part 5 Sujata (concluding part)

Managing two blogs is akin to sailing in two boats. I know many bloggers do it with ease but I guess I am not adept at multi-tasking. I do not want to give up either, I would like to take this blog to its logical conclusion, no matter what it takes, therefore those of you who have been supporting me with your comments and visits, I request you to bear with me for I cannot help the long intervals between my posts.

Continuing the Sujata story, I would like to show you how well Bimal Roy handled children. There are very few directors who present children in a heartwarming manner.

 Children in Hindi films are sometimes quite precocious  and made to mouth high flown dialogues, what gets on my nerves is when they are made to deliver silly dialogues like, “Woh badmash uncle” (that bad uncle). I have yet to hear any child referring to a bad person as bad uncle.

After the brief interruption caused by my unlocking some sweet memories, I am now continuing with my posts on Bimal Roy. This time I shall discuss Sujata.

Before I go on to Sujata, I would like to share something with my readers; some jerk has been commenting anonymously on this blog (older posts).
